Flights

The first entrance to Greece is the airport of Athens, El. Venizelos, located 35 km from the capital. Most travelers go via this airport to the islands, while others fly direct to the other airports of Greece: Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Corfu or Rhodes. During the high season, international flights offer the possibility of flying direct to smaller islands.

About the Airport

Nea Anchialos National Airport with code VOL began its operation in 1993 and is a modern airport that covers the needs of central Greece serving domestic/international and charter flights from/to the biggest cities in Europe.  The airport is located 3 km after the exit of Almyros Interchange on Highway E75. Exploitation of Nea Anchialos National Airport belongs to the Civil Aviation Authority and its main features are presented in the Aeronautical Information Publication of Greece (AIP Greece).

The airport is connected to the city of Volos by the Magnesia Intercity Bus (www.ktelvolou.gr). Taxis are also available outside the terminal.

In the central hall of the terminal there are car hire agencies including the international companies Hertz, Budget, Avis.
